What Happens During the Initial Consultation?

What Happens During the Procedure?
Your mons pubis liposuction procedure will either be performed under local tumescent anesthesia or with intravenous sedation. You will discuss this choice with Dr. Serrão and he will offer his recommendation, based on your specific needs.
During the procedure, Dr. Serrão will make a small incision, typically in the groin crease. The incision is small enough that it will not require a suture for closure. A cannula will be inserted into the incision, and the unwanted fat will be suctioned out.
Once the surgery is complete, we will place a drainage pad under your compression garment. You have the option to go home or remain in our overnight facility. We do offer private-duty nursing, should you desire full-service care, after your procedure.
Is Recovery Difficult?
You will meet with Dr. Serrão the day after your surgery, as well as in the weeks following the procedure. These meetings ensure that your results are of the highest quality, as they allow Dr. Serrão to personally monitor your progress.
You can expect some swelling and bruising after your mons pubis liposuction. However, in most cases, our patients return to work after a few days. You will be required to wear your compression garment for two to six weeks after your procedure. We also recommend our patients wait 6 weeks to resume strenuous exercise. Although the swelling will improve in four to six weeks, it can take several months for the full results to become visible.
