Perineal Body Reconstruction (Perineoplasty or Perineorrhphy)
This procedure repairs and restores the relaxed or aging perineum which is the area between the rectum and the floor of the vagina. The perineum is an important structure which acts as a ‘shelf’ for the penis upon entry into the vagina during intercourse. This procedure gives the perineum a more youthful appearance, creating a vaginal entry that is a better fit for a woman’s partner. It can also enhance the sagging labia majora (large outer lips) and labia minora (smaller inner lips). In many women this area has been stretched or injured during natural vaginal deliveries and/or episiotomies. Many women have not healed well and the previous repair of these tears lead to uneven gaping or scarring of the perineum.
The Perineal Body Reconstruction or Perineoplasty procedure can repair and restore the perineum to look like it did before vaginal deliveries or aging. This procedure is usually performed during vaginal rejuvenation but may also be performed by itself.
