FAQs about ThermiVa

Click on the Questions below for answers to our most commonly asked questions about ThermiVa.

Q: What Is ThermiVa?

ThermiVa is a safe and painless procedure that delivers controlled radio-frequency energy to heat the tissues of the internal and external genitalia.  This heat stimulates the production of collagen to tighten and tone the tissues of the vagina and external genitalia.

Q: How Does ThermiVa Work?

A: ThermiVa treatments deliver controlled thermal energy to the desired areas – external (labia) and/or internal (vagina) – using the same technology that has been used for years. The complete ThermiVa procedure includes 3 separate treatments over a period of 3 months.

There is no downtime other than the office appointments, and no anesthetics are required. Our patients report that they are comfortable, relaxed and very pleased with the noticeable results. There are no sexual restrictions after treatment.

Q: Why do women need ThermiVa?

A: ThermiVa is the best non-surgical option for women who have given birth; the process of birthing a baby stretches the vaginal walls to a damaging extent. Sometimes the internal and external disfigurement of the vagina is not only unsightly but takes a toll on one’s love life. The outstretched vagina weakens sensations during intimacy, minimizing sexual satisfaction. ThermiVa is also an excellent choice for women who have reached middle age and are experiencing changes in the vaginal tissues causing bladder leakage and lack of moisture.

Q: Is ThermiVa better for vaginal tightening than surgery?

A: Sometimes – but not always, ThermiVa does not replace vaginal reconstruction if it is needed. ThermiVa is non-invasive, so no anesthesia is required, and the procedure is done right in our office. The tip of the ThermiVa device is curved, providing a pain-free and comfortable process for the receiver. ThermiVa has the advantage in that it uses heat energy, an effective factor in the reconstruction of collagen which improves the skin’s strength and overall quality. There is no down-time so you can return to your life’s duties as soon as the procedure is performed.

Q: Is ThermiVa safe?

A: There have been no reported complications with the use of ThermiVa. None of our patients have reported any problems with the ThermiVa procedure. One of our patients experienced mild cramping which resolved shortly after the procedure.
